Why No Organic Certification

Do we really need yet another patronizing body? Aren't we intelligent people capable of making informed decisions? For these people we are happy to say there are still choices. When one seriously looks to cosmetic product labels, and researches a company's long standing history in the field of natural cosmetics industry... why is organic certification not necessary to proof ourselves we are one of the good companies around?

The question is whether we at Paul Penders need to give in to peer-pressure while an organic certification is not necessary a seal of approval that guaranties excellent natural quality products. The idea of organic certification seems unnecessary to us because of the following.

Our company consists of conscious people with a clear sight on social responsibility. We use the very best high quality natural and organic ingredients that guarantee the best results possible. We do not wish to be pushed into the new camp of thinkers that promote organic certification, a patronizing advice which activities turned into a gigantic business.

Why need a natural cosmetics manufacturer as Paul Penders, a pioneer in natural cosmetics since 45 years, suddenly needs the seal of approval of bodies that have not much to do with cosmetics in the first place? Or even more with product performance?

Organic certification will certainly not improve our products the same for all brands having certification. The very cheapest brand can get organic certification quickly whether their products work or not as long as they pay for certification as well.

We state that the origins of certain organic ingredients are absolutely not always 100% verifiable. There is also a huge confusion about what a natural ingredient is and what not. In America recently some 25 cosmetics companies carrying a seal of approval of some of these certifying bodies were threatened to be taken to court because of true misrepresentation.

On top of all, a manufacturing company, whether they can pay for the high expense to get certification needs also to pay royalties on worldwide sales to these organic certifiers as well. No wonder some of these brands carrying organic certification are more expensive, while few certifying bodies are very rich by now and below to the fast growing companies in the industry!

Should our customers really need to pay more for cosmetic products simply because of a stamp of approval? Or choose for simple reason and wisdom?

We at Paul Penders continue to be a social responsible company since our beginnings almost 50 years ago. We continuously to provide high quality natural products that are loaded with great natural and organic ingredients. Everyone can look at our website what we represent in this respect; including a history in innovation, community service and charity.

For these reasons we believe our customers do not need more expensive products just because of an organic certification stamp that does not offer better cosmetic products in the first place. Please consider too that several big brands in the natural cosmetics industry (such as Origins producing great natural and organic products) will not go for organic certification as well.
