Certification labels

Remember the time when sophisticated chemical fuelled formulas for skin care never existed? Did people in pre-historic times all suffer from acne or lived till their last breathe battling zits? Well for one, I have never heard of Adam complaining about Eve having bad skin. Natural products have been around as long as man roamed the earth and as far I have heard, they work pretty damn well for many!

Natural products give us the assurance that that the product does not contain any harmful chemicals or ingredients that may have been produced unethically. However, for the sake of “better” skin, many women have chosen to turn a blind eye on this in order to save what I call the “once over”. This is when one takes the product one would like to purchase; give it the royal “once over”. Look at it carefully. Does it have the certification labels? If it doesn’t, ask yourself if you like torturing animals for the sake of good skin or smearing chemicals on your face? If no, put it back. You did the right thing. You just proved that you not only love yourself but you also care about the environment.

It might seem like a small act but do you know that millions of innocent animals are imprisoned, electrocuted, scarred, chained, beaten, tortured, branded, starved, mutilated and murdered in every possible brutal way due to animal testing? Would it bother you that by purchasing that harmless looking tube of eye cream without giving it the “once over”, you have just contributed to the death of a poor animal? If it does, you have something called conscience and you are on the right track!

Don’t get me wrong but simply purchasing a product with all these logos does not necessary mean that that they are the best products for your skin. All product effectiveness depends on its formula which require everyone some amount of trial and error to find out.

A tip to find natural products which are green and good for skin, first scan ingredient list to make sure there are no preservatives and to remain an ethical consumer do keep a look out for the logo that states that it is against animal testing! I would also recommend checking the brand website to learn about more about the brand and its philosophy for credibility.

If you recently made a quick hop on the Eco-conscious band wagon, (yippee!) recognizing certification labels will help you stream line your shopping process. Here are some of the common labels
