Herbal Sunscreen SPF22I remember one morning when I was a university student, I was looking closely into the mirror while getting ready for a lecture. To my astonishment, I saw tiny dark spots above my left cheek. I love my complexion and the sudden emergence of the darkened patches made me very devastated.

I sought help from my cousin, who has knowledge about skin problems. She said that it’s a type of pigmentation that be cured or lightened. She provided me some tips that helped me bring back my confidence, and I’m going to share them with you in this post.

What is Hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of an area of skin resulting from increased melanin.

What cause Hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation may be caused by external or internal factors. Internal factors are illnesses such as Edison’s disease, hepatic problems, excessive iron in the body, hormonal changes during pregnancy or menopause, and a lack of calcium or vitamins A, B, C and E can also result in Hyperpimentation.

One of the major external factors is exposure to the sun as the ultraviolet rays can damage skin cells. Besides that, the use of skin products that contain alcohol can also aggravate Hyperpigmentation. Cosmestics containing colorants with mercury may cause this problem too.

How to treat Hyperpigmentation?

  • Balanced and healthy diet is essential to keep your skin healthy as well. Include more fruits that are rich in vitamins and milk for more calcium.
  • Consistent use of sunscreen is a must for even the most casual exposure. Make sure the sunscreen contain UVA/UVB protection.
  • Exercise more or do meditation to help you sleep well at nights.
