I spent the last weekend at my friend’s place in Alor Setar. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw his 52-year-old mother, who has such smooth and beautiful skin. I could barely see any wrinkles on her face.

The first night I went for dinner with my friend and his family. I was taken aback when I observed the amount of fruits she consumed after dinner. She almost finished 1/3 of a bagful of mangosteens. She said that she could finish 10kg of oranges in 3 weeks!

Vitamin C

Your body can’t store much wrinkle-fighting vitamin C. Therefore, the easiest and simplest way to keep your supplies stocked is to have some citrus everyday. Oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruits are among the citrus fruits that are rich in vitamin C.

What does vitamin C do?

In our bodies, vitamin C is essential to a healthy diet as well as being highly effective antioxidant. Hence, it is important to keep skin’s vitamin C levels high as it helps to store collagen – the supportive protein fibers that prevent skin from sagging – strong and resilient. Flimsy collagen results in lines and wrinkles. Since collagen breaks down easily in your mid 30′s, eat fruits that are high in vitamin C and fight off the aging process.

Antioxdants

Antioxidants are free-radical fighters that help to keep sugar from combining with proteins. You can replenish their supply by consuming more antioxidant-rich fruits, nuts and vegetables such as cranberries, walnuts and capsicums. Therefore, having antioxidants in your diet is a good way for younger looking skin.

You are what you eat. So, include vitamin C and antioxidant-rich fruits in your diet from today onwards and see how your skin improves with some changes in your food.
